Title / Titel	Posttraumatic stress disorder and psychological adjustment in mothers and fathers of children after open-heart surgery for congenital heart disease: a prospective study

Summary / Zusammenfassung	Congenital heart disease (CHD) occurs in about 2-3 per thousand life births. There is evidence that parents may be very much distressed because of the CHD and the open-heart surgery of their child. The aim of this prospective study is twofold. First, rates of posttraumatic stress disorder and psychological maladjustment in mothers and fathers of children after open-heart surgery for CHD shall be assessed. Second, we aim at examining medical, individual and psychosocial predictors of parental adjustment.
