Summary / Zusammenfassung The European Renal cDNA Bank (ERCB) has been initiated in 1998 with the goal to advance care of patients with renal disease by understanding the regulation of genes in human renal biopsies in a cooperative multicenter setting.

The specific aims are

1. understanding transcriptional mechanisms involved in renal disease,

2. identifying diagnostic and prognostic markers in renal biopsies, and

3. supporting the renal scientific community by translational research.

In 2007/2008 the ERCB has moved from the University of Munich (Nephrology Center) to the University of Zurich (Nephrology Clinic and Institute of Physiology)
