Title / Titel	Egg production losses: assessment of infectious etiology by PCR of egg contents

Summary / Zusammenfassung	Rapid confirmation of an infectious etiology of sudden egg production losses is necessary to exclude other causes such as management or feeding errors. The egg is easy accessible material compared to blood or internal organs of affected birds and could serve as sample for the direct antigen detection by molecular methods. This study will compare different methods to detect production losses associated with infectious bronchitis, avian pneumovirus or Newcastle disease.
