Title / Titel Physiologically Active Constituents from Medicinal Plants: Synthetic and Stereochemical Aspects, Multiple Biological Screening, Bioactivity Guided Isolation
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Original title / Originaltitel Physiologisch aktive Inhaltsstoffe aus Medizinalpflanzen: Synthetische und Stereochemische Aspekte, Breitband-Testierung, Aktivitätsbezogene Isolierung.
Summary / Zusammenfassung Activity guided isolation, structure elucidation and total synthesis of genuine constituents of African and Asian medicinal plants. Testing and mechanistic rationalization of their biological activities as anti-microbials, inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase and enzymes of the arachidonic acid metabolism (anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory activity), contact-allergens, and DNA cleavage reagents. Collaboration with specialized laboratories with further regard to anti-malaria and anti-tumor activities.
Synthesis of promising compounds and derivatives thereof in terms of a 'lead optimization'. Enantioselective syntheses of optically active compounds and investigation of stereochemical implications on structure-activity relationships.
