Testosterone and partnership quality by the transition to parenthood
Summary / Zusammenfassung
The transition to parenthood is a dramatic change in life for both mothers and fathers. It’s known, that in these special circumstances not only the mothers but also the fathers experience changes in hormones. Referring to this, androgenes - and in particular testosterone - play a decisive role in men. In addition the transition to parenthood affects the partnership quality significantly. The aim of this research project is the investigation of the changes and interrelations between psychobiological (testosterone and cortisol) and psychological (partnership quality and personality) factors in men during the very special phase of transition to parenthood. Basically, it’s a fundamental research study, but this knowledge will also be usefull for education and prevention by familytherapists or health personnel.
