Title / Titel Magnetic resonance spectroscopy in CADASIL
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung The phenotypic spectrum of the cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) encompasses transient ischaemic attacks and strokes, subcortical cognitive deficits, psychiatric disorders, and migraine with or without aura. The diagnosis of CADASIL may be suggested by personal history, positive family history, and the typical neuroradiological features. Definite diagnosis may be achieved by positive skin biopsy and/or molecular genetic testing of the notch-3 gene. Using spectroscopic and functional MR techniques, we want to further characterize the metabolic cerebral abnormalities in CADASIL patients. In addition, we want to investigate if the migraine pathophysiology in CADASIL patients differs from patients with common forms of migraine, and patients with other symptomatic forms of migraine such as mitochondrial cytopathies or familial hemiplegic migraine.
