| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Diagnosis and medical treatment of childhood cancer is a stressful life experience for the whole family and can have a substantial emotional impact on the sibling of the ill child. It is well documented that siblings of pediatric cancer patients have higher levels of psychological stress and maladjustment compared to healthy children, even though sibling’s well-being is often overlooked and psychological interventions are rare. The aim of this study is to design and evaluate a standardized psychological intervention within the first three weeks after the cancer diagnosis to prevent behavioral problems in school age siblings of pediatric cancer patients. Further, the study aims at assessing the psychological adjustment of the siblings during the first six months after diagnosis and examines the impact of disease and family variables on the behavioral and psychological adjustment of the siblings. | ||||||
