| Summary / Zusammenfassung | We are developing at CERN a 1 ton liquid argon detector (ArDM) to detect both charge and luminescence produced when dark matter particles (WIMPs) collide with argon nuclei. Our group has designed and built the light readout system. The dark matter search requires the development of the charge readout which is in progress with other ArDM collaborators, and also depends on the choice of an adequate underground site. Meanwhile, we are proceeding with our R&D work on liquid argon, which is also beneficial to our involvement in the (Aspera funded) DARWIN project. In particular, we measure the scintillation response of liquid argon to nuclear recoils with our new neutron source producing monoenergetic 2.45 MeV neutrons from the reaction dd to 3He n.
