| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Upper-to-lower limb proportions of Homo habilis are said to be more ape-like than in its reputed ancestor, Australopithecus afarensis. Comparisons are, however, complicated by the fragmentarity and small body size of the OH 62 specimen from Olduvai as body proportions of small-sized modern humans and chimpanzees overlap. A second partial skeleton, KNM-ER 3735 from East Turkana, Kenya, represents a larger individual, but is also fragmentary. Nevertheless, Leakey et al. (1989) found body proportions that differed significantly from modern humans, based on a single human and chimpanzee skeleton. Weitere Informationen |
