PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Original title / Originaltitel Edizione degli scritti linguistici di Carlo Salvioni
Summary / Zusammenfassung Carlo Salvioni (Bellinzona 1858- Milan 1920) was an outstanding scholar in the field of Romance Linguistics at the turn of the century. He made fundamental contributions to the discipline, e.g. description of modern dialects, especially those of Northern Italy and the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, philological study of Old Italian texts, historical linguistics and etymology.
His impressive work, however, has been mostly published in form of journal articles. This circumstance has negatively influenced the reception of Salvioni's writings in present-day research. This project intends to provide a comprehensive edition of Salvioni's linguistics works, to be completed by a commentary and indexes, which will make it accessible to a larger public.
