| Summary / Zusammenfassung | In this research project, the cranial morphology of hominoid primates is investigated from an evolutionary developmental perspective. The principal aim is to analyze the developmental basis of the evolutionary diversification of hominoid taxa. Methods of geometric morphometrics are used to quantify and visualize taxon-specific spatiotemporal patterns of growth and development. This permits establishment of links between the modification of ontogenetic programs and the evolutionary emergence of taxon-specific morphologies. Weitere Informationen |
