| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The aim of this project is to study whether the prevalence of masticatory muscles tenderness in a non-MAP population of adolescents correlates with the school stress level and whether the social support can buffer the stress effect. The study is motivated by the hypothesis that emotional stress is one of the possible etiological risk factors in the etiology of a myoarthropathy. Participants are 417 pupils, 11 to 16-years old, from a junior high school in a suburban community of Lugano. In addition to a clinical examination with respect to myoarthropathy signs the pupils had to fill out a psychological questionnaire assessing life events, school problems and social support. | ||||
