Completed research project

Title / Titel AGENT: Automated Generalisation - New Technology
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung The focus of this project is on defining and validating multi-agent methods applied to geographical modelling, algorithms, constraint modelling, process control, and solution evaluation in map generalization. Thus, the project should demonstrate the capabilities of multi-agent-based approaches and the consequent benefits for GIS systems, map production environments and exploratory visualization systems. The primary target product of the project is a prototype system that implements functionality for independent as well as contextual map generalization using MAS approaches. The common development platform used for the prototype is Laser-Scan's Gothic/LAMPS2. The usability of the prototype is to be demonstrated in two applications, one on medium scale topographic map generalization and one on Internet information access.
