Title / Titel Managing multiple roles
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung One of the stressors many people encounter in their everyday lives is that they pursue multiple goals at the same time with limited resources such as time or energy. The aim of this study is to investigate intergoal relationships in the life domains work, family, and leisure between and within life domains. The self-regulation processes selection, optimization, and compensation (Freund & Baltes, 2002) will be analyzed as potential means for successfully managing multiple goals. In a measurement burst study (an intense time-sampling approach with data collection via smartphones), which is embedded in a three-wave longitudinal online study, we will analyze how different goals facilitate and hinder each other. Furthermore, we are assessing the upgrade and downgrade of different goals in everyday life.
