| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Complex processes are involved when precipitation transforms into runoff, especially since this transition happens invisibly. Knowledge about the transit time and flow pathways of the water through the subsurface is necessary to understand runoff generation in mountainous catchments. This is vital in order to understand the generation of flood events, landslide behavior, mineral or pollution uptake from the soil and aquatic ecology. Process knowledge is even more important in a changing climate, where the past can no longer serve as a guidance for the future. In this research project, advanced field measurements in two pre-alpine catchments are made. Amongst others, precipitation, stream gauging, ground water, soil moisture, geology, tracers (i.e. stable isotopes and water chemistry), meteorological and hydro-ecological parameters are measured. The main goal is to improve process knowledge to enhance hydrological modeling. | ||||
