| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Main objective of the project is the strengthening the scientific capacity of Albanian research teams by cooperation with Swiss research institutions to carry out transdisciplinary research in aquatic systems in general and in the Bovilla reservoir as important drinking water supply for Tirana in particular. Specific objectives: (1) To study the limnological characteristics of Bovilla reservoir and their impacts on the quality of drinking water produced from this reservoir. To evaluate the trophic state of Bovilla lake. (2) To evaluate the dynamic changes of chemical, biological (mainly plankton) and microbiological factors of Bovilla water and their impact on drinking water quality. (3) To evaluate the environmental impact of the watershed (vegetation, agriculture, forestry, natural areas for protection, local population, inflowing streams, etc.) on Bovilla lake. (4) To increase the awareness of people from local communities and authorities from municipalities and ministries to protect the water quality of Bovilla lake. (5) To promote a scientific cooperation between specialists from various university groups in Albania and the water treatment plant of Tirana, and the exchange between Albanian and Swiss scientists | ||||||
