| Summary / Zusammenfassung | eCF is a course in “Corporate Finance” offered by the University of Zurich. Every year about 500 undergraduate and 60 vocational students attend this course simultaneously. The course has been developed upon a blended learning approach, integrating four key elements in order to create an interactive and involving learning environment: Self-study: During the self-learning element students develop the basic knowledge. Following an online-guide with a clearly defined learning structure students work with a variety of different knowledge sources (textbook, exercises in excel, multiple choice tests, flash animations). The use of the media-mix supports multiple learning behaviors and allows independence of time and place. Teamwork: In teams of four students obtain the opportunity to put the learning contents into practice. The activities require active participation and collaboration on group. Real cases enhance emotional involvement leading to an increased learning motivation. Online-coaching: The collaborative studying efforts are being complemented through online-coaching, an extensive support program. With asynchronous discussion forums a possibility for peer to peer and peer to coach interaction is provided. Classroom lectures: Every two weeks lectures held by the professor take place to ensure the content-related wrap-up. But as the lectures are being recorded and subsequently made available on the internet as video stream or vodcast, lectures can also be attended completely independent regarding to time and place. |
